Is it so hard to believe that a Religious Scientist can exist?

Science contradicts the literal interpretation from Genesis in The Holy Bible that God created the world in six days. Professor Joel Primack, Astrophysicist co-developed the cold dark matter theory that seeks to explain the formation and structure of the universe and believes in God. Professor Primack who is of Jewish faith comments that The Holy Bible should not be read literally or as a scientific text, but rather to be understood metaphorically. There is no apparent way thats religious faith can be proven scientifically.

Professor Primack said: "In the last few years astronomy has come together so that we're now able to tell a coherent story" of how the universe began, Primack said. "This story does not contradict God, but instead enlarges [the idea of] God."

Steven Lovgren on National Geographic News stated that today many scientists say that there is no conflict between their faith and work. Few Scientists also seem to think much about religion in their research. Many are reluctant to stray outside their area of expertise and may not feel a need to invoke God in their work.

I have asked Professor Peter Gill, Theoretical Quantum Chemistry, The Australian National University if he was a religious person and he replied back saying that, "yes" indeed he is. He believes that a transcendent God created the universe and is not part of the universe. He also believes that he became a part of his creation by being Jesus Christ, and Jesus being the way to eternal life.

Understanding Science in a Religious way

Upon challenging the minds of the strictly religious:

"science is the organised, rational study of the universe -- Gods creation -- and the primary reason that the universe is comprehensible to us is that it was designed by a rational being who has imbued humans with rational brains.
If one views science in this way, there is neither conflict nor incoherence between it and theistic beliefs. - Professor Gill"

He also goes on to enunciate that this is the possible reason as to why there is replete great scientists, who were, or are, professing Christians.
